Description:
The Smith & Wesson Model 629-4 is a refined iteration of the company's stainless steel N-frame revolver line, engineered to handle the full pressures of the 44 Magnum cartridge while maintaining long-term durability. The 6-inch barrel is particularly desirable, offering an optimal combination of muzzle velocity, sight radius, and balance, allowing for precise shot placement while still being manageable in recoil compared to shorter-barreled variants. The barrel is fitted with a red ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight, giving the shooter the ability to fine-tune point of impact for various loads. The stainless steel construction not only enhances resistance to corrosion and environmental wear but also gives the revolver a clean finish that holds up well under regular use. The "-4" engineering change, produced in the mid-to-late 1990s, incorporates several notable internal improvements, including updates to the extractor system and a transition away from earlier design features such as the cylinder stop configuration, resulting in improved reliability and smoother operation.
