Description:
20 Gauge & 2 ½" Chambers | 28" Damascus Barrels with Fixed Cyl & Cyl Chokes | William Evans Rotary Underlever (1886)

This 20 Gauge side-by-side represents the storied heritage of late-nineteenth-century British gunmaking, crafted in 1886 by William Evans following his tenure at the prestigious house of Purdey & Sons. The design utilizes a classic rotary underlever action and features 28-inch Damascus barrels, embodying the refined engineering of the London sporting tradition.

The walnut stock features a straight English grip with a right-hand cast, a 1 5/8 inch drop at comb, and a 2 ¼ inch drop at heel, showing marks on the furniture and a handling dent on the right side consistent with its history. The 28-inch Damascus barrels feature a solid tapered rib measuring 11 3/10mm to 8 3/10mm and show light marks consistent with age, though the bores look good and the cracked fore-end locks in tightly.

This antique firearm features a manual safety, double triggers, and extractors, and it locks up tight with the non-rebounding locks functioning firmly on snap caps. Chambered for 2 ½ inch shells and weighing only 5 lbs 7 9/10 oz, this William Evans offers the exceptional balance and lightweight feel of a premier London field gun.
