Description:
About 25,000, 1903s were "sampled" and turned into special, sporter models for NRA match rifles. They were outfitted with select barrels, special, sporter stocks, and peep sights. The peep sights were hand-lapped to each rifle. This one didn't get used much. The action S/N traces to 1905, but the provenance letter indicates an actual transfer date in 1930. These were all part of a marksmanship program, pushed by the NRA and the Federal Government, intended to develop a core of sharpshooters for the military to draw from. This is a beautiful rifle, and a rare find. .30-06 Springfield

Sights: Gold bead and OEM peep. (Note: Peeps sights for these rifles were lapped to fit.) this is drilled and tapped for scope and outfitted with a vintage Weaver Model 330 scope.
