Description:
c1900 Cologne Germany EDUARD KETTNER Bolt Action .22 Centerfire Pistol C&R

SINGLE SHOT Handgun GERMANIC

Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Engraved Eduard Kettner Single Shot Bolt Action Pistol, made circa the turn of the century in Cologne, Germany. On January 23, 1884, the Eduard Kettner company was entered in the Cologne commercial register and the first Kettner hunting shop was opened in the heart of the cathedral city. At the beginning of the 20th century, Kettner was one of the first mail-order companies in Germany. Kettner acquired factories in Suhl (Thuringia) and Porz (Cologne), where thousands of hunting weapons were produced and then exported. In 1925, the Bühring family bought Kettner and enlarged the headquarters in Cologne. The company was first managed by Friedrich Bühring's father-in-law, the well-known “Patronen-Dornheim”. He was the owner of G.C. Dornheim AG from Lippstadt, a weapons and ammunition wholesaler with seven branches in Germany and abroad. Nevertheless, the Franz Kettner shop at Hohe Straße 109 in Cologne was retained, which was finally closed at the end of September 2009.
Eduard Kettner GmbH is the oldest known German arms trading company, founded in 1884, that sells hunting and sporting weapons including accessories and functional clothing.

The overall condition is fine. It wears a very nice, old refinish. The action is excellent. The set part of the trigger could use adjustment. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stock has a stable split at the pommel and is otherwise solid. All the numbers match throughout. BUG proofed. Lacks a front sight. We have not worked out the exact chambering yet as it may be obscure and European, but it is something akin to the .22 Hornet (which will not fully chamber).
