Description:
Here is an outstanding and very early 1860 44H Colts Patent Army bullet mold. What identifies this as the early style mold is the rounded sprue cutter, and the slighly slimmer profile. The later mold had a squared-off sprue cutter and and a little more bulky profile.
This bullet mold works perfectly and the cavities are excellent. All of the markings are very clear and readable. It has a beautiful plum, gunmetal patina. It closes nice and tight like it should and certainly has never been used as a hammer. This is an unusually well-cared for Civil War era bullet mold.
