Description:
An exceptionally rare American contracted Berthier Modele 1916. France contracted Remington to make 200,000 or so Berthier rifles during World War I. French ordinance inspectors found the Remington rifles to be "subpar" due to parts not having proper dimensions (largely due to rushed production for the war efforts, and for too few rifles produced in time.) Remington would only produce 9,440 rifles that the French accepted into service, with the contract being cut short due to these issues. This rifle is in immaculate condition with no visible blemish to either the stock or steel, while the bore and rifling are perfectly servicable. The rifle is mechanically sound, and is chambered in 8mm Lebel. No en bloc cips are included. 8x50mmR Lebel
