Description:
"Serial no. 1893. Manufactured during WWII by Toyoda Automatic Loom Works under Nagoya supervision. This scarce variant, referred to in Labar as the “Test Type 1 Knife" (LB-234) and rated 8/10 on the rarity scale, shares general characteristics with the standard Type 30 bayonet but was purpose-built with a significantly shorter blade and scabbard rather than being a field-shortened example. The back of the tang is marked with the Nagoya district inspection mark along with the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works manufacturer mark. These bayonets are most commonly associated with the Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper rifle and the Type 100 submachine gun, though examples have been documented in use with standard Type 99 rifles, suggesting a broader role as a specialized combat knife. The wooden grips remain in very good condition showing minimal handling wear. Overall, this is a highly desirable and scarce Japanese WWII bayonet variant with strong collector appeal due to its limited production and specialized use.
