Exceedingly scarce and completely untouched Model 54 in rare 22 Hornet caliber!
S/N 40416A with matching scribed bolt made in 1934.
With only 50K made in all calibers, it is hard enough to find ANY Model 54 that has not been grossly altered, but it is nearly impossible to find an original Hornet.
This rifle is 100% original in all regards, and remains in very high condition. No extra drill holes, No refinish, No bolt handle or stock alterations, original sights, etc.
I have also verified that all complex internal parts are genuine and that the chamber remains a true 22 Hornet, never reamed to K hornet nor any other wildcat.
Overall condition shows better than 95% with lustrous rust blue over most with some thinning in the usual areas, such as floorplate, buttplate, etc.
The wood has never been sanded, repaired or even topcoated, with excellent checkering panels, and only a slight dullness from age.
The mechanical functions are flawless, and the bore is good and bright with distinct rifling showing a bit of throat or breech wear but no pitting.
Original sights include the factory inletted and installed Lyman 48W long slide receiver sight which has great function and all matching inner component #s. Correct Lyman 12S filler in barrel sight dovetail.
A really nice and super hard to find example, surely among the best few originals I have encountered over the past 10-15 years, they are that scarce.
