Up for grabs...a really terrific \"first run\" Colt King Cobra. Produced in 1987, this 6\" BLUED KING COBRA is one of those rare ones. So if you‚re reading this, you may or may not know that throughout the 1980‚s there was a lot happening behind the scenes with Colt as a manufacturer. And not very much of it was positive. In 1985, 1,100 employees walked out and staged a four year long strike citing better working conditions, and in 1988 Colt lost the military contract to FN which ended an absolute dominance of supplying the most powerful nation in the world with its weapons. HOWEVER, introducing the COLT KING COBRA about this time was truly one of Colt‚s bright spots during those tough days. While other companies were punching out machine made revolvers, Colt was still working off its historic equipment. Like its more refined big brother, the Python, this FIRST RUN of the King Cobras were largely still hand fitted. The initial FIRST RUN KING COBRAS debuted as stainless guns, and the BLUED version was introduced soon after. Hard data for the numbers of BLUED KING COBRA‚s seems impossible to find, but we do know they are darn rare. Common estimates suggest only about 10% of the \"First Run\" King Cobras were were produced as blued guns. With the initial King Cobras only made from 1986-1992, these particular King Cobras will only get more difficult to find. Subsequent re-introductions of the King Cobra were never ever manufactured in the same way. Produced in 1987, the serial number on THIS King Cobra is AV71085. THIS was a very early built King Cobra...second year of production and possibly the first for the BLUED VERSION. Overall, this gun is in very nice condition with only a very small spot of bluing wear on the left side near the muzzle. Grips are original with Colt medallion and are in excellent condition. A nice leather holster is included. These FIRST RUN Colt King Cobras finished in the Colt‚s classy bluing just don‚t come along to often. We‚d suggest this one is exceptional.with confidence. You won‚t be disappointed.
