Really nice cased ANTIQUE RARE Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action 2nd model Top Break Pocket Revolver
If you're looking for an exceptional addition to your Smith & Wesson or Top Break revolver collection, then this antique, rare Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action Top Break revolver might just be what you're looking for. Made between 1878 and 1892, this revolver features a serial number of 29374 , indicating it was probably produced in 1887 the first year of extended barrel lengths.
4” raised ribbed barrel, nickel finish, double top post barrel latch , spur trigger, auto shell ejecting, A pinned half-moon front sight with fixed rear sight. The 5-shot .38 S&W revolver has all serialized parts matching.
Condition: this revolver is in nice condition. The 4“ ribbed barrel has a good bore moderate oxidized and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces still retain about 80% of the original nickel finish with some very minor scattered oxidized pin-prick pitting , freckling, edge wear and handling marks. Most of the wear is on the right side probably from storage. All barrel markings remain crisp and clear . The S&W monogram black checkered hard rubber grips rate in very fine condition showing just some light wear. The serialized parts are all matching .Barrel to frame fit is is solid with good timing and a strong hammer. NOTE: The bolt is stuck in the disengaged position so the cylinder will spin freely with the hammer not locked up. Maybe stuck, or needs a new spring. A factory wooden case is included and rates excellent with just some minor dings. The purple velvet lining shows some moderate fading and a couple small tears. The case also contains a key and an empty .38 S&W ammo box by American Metallic Cartridge Company in very fine condition.
ORIGINAL ,RARE , Very hard to find this model revolver in this condition with a 4” barrel. This revolver would make a great addition to any Smith & Wesson or Top Break revolver collection.
