45/70 Remington Rolling Block Rifle – Detailed Description
Overview
-This 45/70 Remington Rolling Block rifle has been carefully set up for precision shooting and showcases a number of custom features designed to enhance performance and handling.
Barrel and Action
-The rifle has been rebarreled with a Borchardt barrel, featuring an 11-degree crown. The barrel measures a straight 1-1/8" in diameter and has a mirror bore, ensuring optimal accuracy. The muzzle end of the barrel includes a dovetail cut, which currently has a blank inserted.
Stock and Checkering
-The stock and tang have been reshaped from their original form to provide a more suitable angle for benchrest shooting, improving ergonomics and comfort. The stock also features hand-cut checkering for enhanced grip and aesthetic appeal.
-Trigger and Custom Work
A trigger job was completed in our shop, resulting in a crisp trigger release measuring between 2.9 and 2.12 ounces. This modification ensures a light and clean break, contributing to consistent shot placement.
-Scope Mounting Options
The receiver has been drilled and tapped to accommodate both Unertl scope bases and a Weaver base, as demonstrated in the accompanying photographs. This flexibility allows for easy mounting of a variety of optics to suit the shooter’s preference.
Butt Plate has a Crack at the screw.
Not the most beautiful rifle but it's a solid bench gun.
