This firearm was popular in Egypt and Belgium after WWII as they were seen as modern rifles due to the semi auto action and detachable magazine. These rifles were adopted by multiple different militaries. This rifle is most likely chambered in 8mm Mauser. Always check with a certified gunsmith before chambering/firing if cartridge isn't marked. Attempting to fire the incorrect cartridge could result in catastrophic failure.
