Description: Offered for sale is an authentic early 19th century flintlock pistol of Continental European origin, most likely produced in the Liège region of Belgium or France during the early 1800s. This pistol remains in its original flintlock configuration and represents a classic example of a working grade, provincial firearm from the Napoleonic era period. The overall form and construction are consistent with trade or civilian carry pistols of the time. The pistol features a deeply curved grip with iron buttcap, simple iron mounted furniture, and a plain lock typical of utilitarian gunmaking from the region. The architecture reflects practical design over refinement, built for use rather than presentation. The lock appears complete and properly configured in flintlock form, showing age and wear consistent with over two centuries of history. Metal surfaces have developed a dark, even patina, while the wood stock shows handling marks, wear, and minor shrinkage consistent with its age. No visible maker’s markings are present, which is common for pistols produced in the Liège trade or by smaller provincial makers during this period. Good antique condition with honest wear throughout. Surface oxidation, handling marks, and age related wear are present. Mechanically complete but not evaluated for firing condition. This is a solid, affordable example of an early Continental flintlock pistol with strong historical character and display appeal. We warrant that the firearms are as they appear in our photos but do not warrant mechanical condition or operation. SOLD |
