Description:
For your consideration, a Colt Single action Army chambered in .45 Colt. This piece is a commemorative issued in celebration of the 1964 sesquicentennial of the birth of Samuel Colt. The grip frame, axis pin and retainer, ejector rod, and cylinder are plated in contrast with the blued frame, barrel, and ejector rod housing. Imagery of Colt's pioneering Patterson model, the Hartford factory's Blue Dome, scrollwork, and the legend: "Col Saml Colt." While the plaque affixed to the presentation case lid quotes a 5,000 production figure, Colt's Dates of Manufacture by R.L. Wilson puts the total at 4,750. Whichever the total, this example is number 13. Of particular interest to collectors, this piece was shipped to Colt employee and historian, Ronald H. Wagner and passed through the collection of prominent Colt collector David Grunberg as attested in promotional material of Morphy s' September 2025 Firearms and Militia . .45 Colt
