This model features a 20-inch barrel and was produced in May 1945, as indicated by its receiver marking. Commonly known as the “Jungle Carbine,” the No. 5 Mk I was designed as a lighter variant of the No. 4 rifle, retaining the same bolt-action system and detachable box magazine. The rifle has a military-style finish with a smooth wood pistol-grip stock, matching handguard, and hard rubber buttplate consistent with wartime production. This rifle is used. The bore condition is described as good, showing solid shine and visible rifling. The action operates on the standard rear-locking Enfield bolt system. The rear sight is an adjustable military peep type, mounted on the receiver bridge. External metal surfaces display the typical matte military finish, and the rifle carries the serial number V9609. No import mark is noted on the receiver or barrel, consistent with rifles brought into the country prior to modern import marking requirements. Included with the rifle is one detachable magazine. The configuration remains representative of the original No. 5 pattern, with the shortened barrel, lightened receiver cuts, and original wood furniture. The rifle is classified as Curio & Relic eligible under federal designation, reflecting its 1945 production date and historical design.
