Description:
Early (epouvette) gunpowder tester. Not sure of the specific origin of this piece but given the style of engraving and its component parts, it seems likely to date to the very early 19th century or possibly a bit earlier. It is in excellent + condition throughout its' 9 3/8" length and retains its' original birdseye maple handle and retaining ring. No maker's mark is present but the quality appears to be quite high. All in all, a nice example of a completely original, indispensable gun shop tool.
