Overview
The Remington 760 pump-action rifle, chambered in .223, has undergone a comprehensive restoration. Notably, the wood furniture on this rifle stands out as exceptional among standard grade examples, offering a level of quality rarely seen on the 760 pump.
Restoration Process
This rifle was meticulously restored in our shop located in Maine. To preserve the original dimensions and contours of the wood, it was stripped using a cabinet scraper, a method chosen to minimize the removal of material. A light finish sanding followed, ensuring that the wood remains slightly raised in relation to the metal components, maintaining its proud appearance.
The metal parts were carefully polished to match original factory standards, with particular attention paid to keeping all edges sharp and crisp. After polishing, the metal underwent caustic bluing, resulting in an authentic factory finish that closely resembles the original.
Barrel and Markings
Upon arrival, the barrel was believed to have been replaced. Barrel markings were added, and original factory Remington sights were installed before the rebluing process. Consequently, no born-on date codes or REP stamp are present on the barrel. It was considered unethical to add these markings prior to finishing.
Authenticity
The serial number and all internal parts are correct for the years this rifle was manufactured in .222 rem, confirming this rifle as an authentic with the exception of the barrel replacement
