The Royal Factory Ishapore Enfield 2A1 is a bolt-action rifle chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO (.308). Produced by the Rifle Factory Ishapore in India, this model continues the Lee-Enfield design lineage adapted for the 7.62mm cartridge. It features a 25-inch barrel and a 10-round detachable magazine. The receiver and bolt assembly retain the traditional Enfield pattern, with steel construction and wood furniture typical of Indian military production rifles from this period. The rifle bears the “R.F.I." manufacturer marking and the model designation “2A1."
This 2A1 is used and shows the configuration associated with post-1960s Ishapore manufacture, including the reinforced receiver designed for the higher-pressure 7.62×51mm round. The finish and woodwork reflect the standard military issue style. The rifle maintains the standard rear sight calibrated for the 7.62mm cartridge and a front post sight mounted at the muzzle.
