The Smith & Wesson Model 629 Classic,with-6 engineering revision, chambered in .44 Magnum with a 6.5" barrel is a premium, large-frame (N-frame) double-action/single-action revolver. As the stainless steel sibling to the blued carbon-steel Model 29 made famous by the Dirty Harry films, it is widely considered the gold standard for handgun hunting, target shooting, and wilderness bear defense. The "Classic" variant is distinguished by a solid steel lug running the full length of the bottom of the barrel. This extra weight up front significantly dampens muzzle flip and tames the sharp recoil of high-powered .44 Magnum. The dash-six generation features Smith & Wesson's updated, heavy-duty endurance package.
