Description:
The Remington Smoot New Model No. 3 is an antique 5 shot spur trigger single action revolver chambered in .38 Rimfire Short. It features a 3.75-inch octagonal barrel and a compact frame design characteristic of late 19th-century pocket pistols. The revolver has a nickel-plated finish and is fitted with brown checkered hard rubber bird’s head grips. This configuration represents one of Remington’s small-frame metallic cartridge revolvers produced during the post-Civil War era.

The revolver is used. The action functions, and the bore shows darkening consistent with age and black powder use. No serial number is present on the frame, which aligns with production practices for many antique Remington pocket models. The nickel finish retains visible age patina, and the grips show handling wear typical of a revolver of this period. Mechanical operation corresponds to the single-action design, requiring manual cocking of the hammer before firing.

Included with the revolver are the original hard rubber grips affixed to the frame. No additional accessories or packaging are provided. The firearm qualifies as an antique due to its rimfire ignition system and 19th-century manufacture. Made from 1878 to 1888. Overall, the Remington Smoot No. 3 represents a compact, nickel-finished revolver chambered for the .38 Rimfire Short cartridge with a 3.75-inch octagonal barrel and period-correct components intact.
