Offered for sale is a fine example of the very collectible Colt Prewar National Match. The top of the line target automatic of its day. This pistol was owned by a carrer US Military Officer, Lt Colonel Clare E Slaughter US Army. Later in life he was a construction engineer and built his home in Hollywood Hills. His personally desgined home in the Hills is still there. The address was 2882 Belden St, Los Angeles CA. I am sure some movie star lives there now.
The pistol is well cared for and 100% original in every way. This is an early National Match shipped in 1933 to a CA retailer. A single gun shipement likely ordered by Mr Slaughter himself. The barrel has a mint bore and is marked with the circled MB. Included with the sale is a period business card, complete familiy bio of him as well as a period correct M1916 holster.
