Pre-war Winchester Model 70 chambered in .257 Roberts, manufactured prior to 1942 and highly regarded for its controlled-round-feed action, smooth operation, and classic Winchester craftsmanship. Features include a 24-inch barrel, walnut stock with hand-cut checkering, steel buttplate, rust-blued finish, and original style wing safety. The .257 Roberts cartridge is well known for its mild recoil, flat trajectory, and excellent performance on deer-sized game, making this rifle a favorite among classic American hunting rifles. Overall NRA condition is Excellent. Metal retains strong original finish with light handling wear consistent with age. Wood remains well preserved with attractive figure and only minor marks from careful use. Bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action functions smoothly and correctly.
