Description:
This 45ACP is a parts built 1911 by and author and gunwriter named Charles E Petty better known as Charlie Petty. It's built on a ESSEX frame with an older Colt slide, The right side of the slide has Colt PT. F. A. MFG CO. HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A. printed on it and the left side has a serial number on it. That ser. number is faint due to the metal removed during the preparation for rebluing. It has Bomar sights front and rear and a adjustable trigger. The barrel bushing is serialized but not the same as the slide ser. number. The barrel has some markings on it but are hard to make out. The muzzle of the barrel appears to be flared a bit. The grips are Pachmayr. There are pictures of Charlie shooting a 1911 in competition but I'm not sure if was this 1911. I can tell you it shoots really well. The recoil spring has been replaced with a new spring.
