Description:
The Mossberg Model 44US is a historic .22 Long Rifle (LR) bolt-action rimfire rifle manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons. It is most famous for serving as a primary military marksmanship training rifle for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps during World War II. Originally introduced in 1943, the military requested a highly cost-effective alternative to the complex and expensive Springfield M1922 training rifles. Mossberg adapted their commercial Model 44B design, scaling back premium finishes to create a reliable, heavy, and exceptionally accurate trainer.
