Description:
You are looking at a recent attic find a Springfield model 1878 trapdoor rifle in 45-70 caliber that am selling as a parts gun but could be restored if desired to. Gun is missing cleaning rod and end cap that goes on front of stock. Has a 32 1/2 inch long barrrel bore is bright in some areas with darkish groves. A good scrubbing cleaning would help. Gun has about 85% factory blue finish with light surface rust in different ares. Butt plate shows some heavy rust. Trapdoor and lock work great and are tight. As you see in photos there is a piece of broken wood just in front of front band where end cap goes. This could be repaired the piece that is missing is about 3 1/4 inch long.
