Previously owned by noted six-gun authority John Taffin, this Springfield Armory 1911A1 chambered in 9mm is a semi-automatic pistol with a 5-inch barrel, weighing 2.75 pounds. The pistol remains in excellent condition and comes with one 9-round magazine as well as an additional barrel chambered for .30 Luger, offering an interesting and uncommon caliber option within the classic 1911 platform. The pistol is fitted with custom grips made specifically for John Taffin, which can be clearly seen in the photographs. The grips are handmade by Scott Koehler of SK Custom Grips and are crafted from American Bison bone. Marked "No. 1 of 30," they represent a limited custom set produced for Taffin and add a distinctive and personal touch to this firearm from his collection. Throughout his career, Taffin wrote extensively about the enduring appeal of the 1911 platform, often highlighting its balance, accuracy, and adaptability across a wide range of cartridges.
