The Stevens-Savage Model 77D is a vintage, dependable pump-action repeating shotgun manufactured by Savage Arms under their Stevens brand name between 1954 and 1971. The "D Grade" designation represents the premium field variant of the baseline Model 77 chassis, explicitly upgraded with upscale checkered wood furniture instead of the plain wood found on standard models. The Model 77 series is historically significant because its core design served as the foundation for the Savage 77E combat "riot" shotguns heavily fielded by the U.S. Military during the Vietnam War. 12 Gauge
