Description:
Scarce Antique F. Bannerman Model 1896 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun – Circa 1897 – Original Damascus Barrel

Offered for sale is a F. Bannerman Model 1896 pump-action shotgun, serial number 14290, manufactured by F. Bannerman Manufacturer, New York, U.S.A. This is an authentic pre-1899 antique firearm, estimated to have been manufactured circa 1897, and is one of the less commonly encountered American pump shotguns from the late 19th century.
Built during the transition from black powder to early smokeless powder, this shotgun retains its original Damascus twist barrel, a highly desirable feature that reflects the craftsmanship of the era. Bannerman Model 1896 shotguns are seldom encountered for sale, making this an excellent opportunity for collectors of early American sporting arms and antique pump shotguns. This shotgun has never been refinished and retains an attractive, honest antique patina with normal handling wear expected from a firearm over 125 years old. The wood is solid and original with typical field marks but no significant abuse. The receiver markings remain sharp and easily legible, giving the shotgun outstanding collector appeal.
The front magazine tube barrel support was professionally repaired by welding after damage sustained sometime during the shotgun's lifetime. The repair is solid and fully disclosed, and it has been reflected in the asking price. Otherwise, the shotgun remains in its original configuration and presents extremely well.
