British Brown Bess Bayonet
Description:
This India pattern bayonet has an overall length of 22 inches with 17.2 inch flat topped blade, 4 inch socket with 1 15/16 stud to muzzle measurement and near 1 inch muzzle ring diameter.
The only markings visible is "XII" on rear of collar.
This piece shows pitting and surface oxidation with a dark patina.
Comes in a post 1785 style leather scabbard, split at seam and missing tip with correct brass frog hook with top lobe.
Leather is dried and cracked, brass hook shows great dark patina.
A good example, not often seen with scabbard.
