Description:
A military percussion pistol made by the H. Aston firm and dated  1846  in FINE condition. The barrel, lock, hammer and captive ramrod are all bright steel. The rest of the metal is brass with very few scratches or other marks. The wood is in very good condition ... There are no cartouches and no indication that there ever were any- which is not uncommon. The markings on the lock are clear. The top of the barrel is marked "GWH" with a "P" under that. The 8 & 1/2" round barrel is .54 caliber. The overall length is 14". The action is strong. The hammer holds on full and half cock. The nipple looks fine. The brass butt has only a few minor marks and has not been used as a hammer as is often the case. This model was made from 1846 to 1852, so this pistol was one of the first made. The War Department ordered  30,000 of these in February, 1845 for the Army  and Navy. It would have been used in the war with Mexico and probably also in our Civil War.

A fine piece of history in very collectable condition. It is an antique  so no FFL is required. It can be sent directly to a new owner. I have
additional examples of this model for sale. You can find them on this site under "ROMSEY"
A NO INTEREST payment plan is available.
