Description:
A circa 1840 6 shot  Pepperbox ( a percussion action) in FINE condition made in Essex, England by  the firm of Smith-Baintree..It is .36 caliber with 3" barrels and  an overall length of 7 & 1/2 ".The barrels are numbered from 1 to 6. About 80% blue remains. Smith was in business from 1830 to 1850. The action is strong. The ends of each barrel, the hammer and the trigger guard are engraved.. About 80% of the case colors on the action remain. The grips are  nicely checkered and are in excellent condition. There is an unmarked escutcheon plate  on the top of the grip. There is also a working safety.  One percussion cap is missing.  A very nice pepperbox to add to your collection.
