Description:
A nice H. ASTON Model 1842 Military issue percussion pistol in Very Good to Fine condition. The lock is marked "Midd-tn, Conn., 1848" The barrel is marked "U.S., JCB, P". There is also a "B" on the brass trigger guard. The butt cap , back strap , and barrel strap are also brass. The action is strong and the hammer holds at full and half cock. The barrel is 8 & 1/2" long and the caliber is .58. . The wood has no splits, cracks, gouges or wood missing. A nice example of a military arm that may well have seen action in the American Civil War and the war with Mexico. There is no cartouche and no sign that there ever was one.
