Description:
A .54 caliber H. Aston  model 1842 percussion pistol made for the U.S. Military and most likely saw action in the U.S. Civil War and the war with Mexico. The 8 & 1/2" round barrel has a brass front sight . This pistol obviously saw  wartime use. The lock is marked "1850" ,Midd-tn, Conn." and "U.S.", "H. Aston". There is also an"H" forward of the trigger. The action is very strong. The hammer holds on full and half cock. There are two sharp inspectors cartouches on the left side of the  walnut stock. The wood is in excellent condition . The lock,hammer, barrel and captive ramrod are bright steel. The butt cap, trigger guard, barrel band, side bar and front sight are brass. The trigger is blued. The overall condition rates NRA FINE.
