This one would rate an NRA- FINE condition status. 8 & 1/2" barrel . The brass has a nice age mellow patina. The overall length is 14". A .54 caliber smooth bore barrel. There are two inspectors cartouches (somewhat faint ) on the left side of the stock. The action is very strong and the hammer holds on full and half cock. These pistols were used in the American Civil War and in the War with Mexico. The lock is clearly marked " H. Aston & Co." and also at the rear portion "Midd._ tn, Conn. 1852".The top of the barrel is stamped: "U.S.,, WN and P".. There is also a "B" lower down in the same area. These were all various Federal Inspectors marks. There is a captive ramrod. A nice piece of American military history.
