#20290, Watson Bros., 54 Redchurch Street, City of London: A 28 Bore Bar Action Sidelock Purdey Type Self Opening Round Body Side by Side Game Gun Finished in 2007, This piece remains in 97-98% original condition, 29" Ejector Chopper Lump barrels, .550 .009 & .009" (Skt.II & Skt.II), 2 3/4" chambers, London proved, Double triggers, Bushed strikers, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Straight hand stock at 16 5/8 x 1 9/16 x 2 3/8" over a full face checkered butt, Very slight cast-off for the right hand, Superb 28 Bore game gun weight at 5 Lbs. 14 Oz., Very nice walnut with deep black & brown contrast, 99% coverage of classic scroll engraving, This gun retains an absolute 99% bright and vivid original case colors, The heat blue on the striker bushings is 85%, The trigger faces has 100% heat blue remaining, The forend on the inside has 100% case colors, The overall barrel blue remains at 99%. The barrels inside and out remain as they did in 2007. The buttstock and forend remain at 96% with the checkering at 100%. The whole is cased in the makers leather cornered leather trunk with the correct trade label and a canvas over cover. A great gun with 29" barrels, 5 lbs. 14 oz., super condition, nice wood and if you need a long length of pull around 16 5/8" this is the piece for you. All Watson Bros. shotguns and rifles are man-made in the City of London by craftsmen, all personally trained by proprietor, Michael Louca. //////////////////////////////////// The firm Watson came to be by Thomas W. Watson in 1875 when he bought Durs Egg and it became Watson Bros. in 1885; from 1896 to 1930 the firm was at 29 Old Bond St. and became a part of Grant & Lang in 1935. At one time they held an appointment to H.I.M. the Sultan of Turkey and The Shah of Persia. In 1989 a former Purdey craftsman, Michael Louca, bought the name and to this day is producing top drawer round body side by side's, several styles of a classic over & under's, 4 & 8 bore guns with barrels from 36" to 42" all with the Watson Bros. name.
