This is a nice sidelock gun with 30" barrels, 7 lbs., excellent condition, nice wood and a fair price for a nice sidelock piece. This gun has all the trappings of being made in Belgium for Vouzelaud. This piece is not a boxlock with false sideplates but a true bar action sidelock with nice lockwork and very nice internal inletting that is as sound as the day it was cut. This is a nice sidelock for the money. ///////////////// //////////////////// Vouzelaud was established in France in 1888. It was reported in 1983 that Vouzelaud was Purdey's agent in France. They are established in Brou, France about 70 miles southwest of Paris and have remained there since 1888. The firm was passed down generation to generation and still operates to this very day. Their catalog is quite impressive with a lot of guns, their own brand of cartridges; clothing and they have their own shooting school. Several well-known American gun writers have flat stated that Vouzelaud only makes boxlock guns along with many that have false sideplates and look exactly like a sidelock. I am sure all of that is true but this gun, #GP1915, is absolutely a sidelock gun hence I am almost positive it was made in Belgium from an order at Vouzelaud and sold by them with their name on it.
