Description:
This exceptional condition Merkel 203E from 1949 has the features that set it apart and make it a collection quality shotgun. The game scene engraving on both sidelocks is very well executed and the oak leaf motif covering not only the balance of the action but us also found on the stock immediately behind the sidelocks and on the foreend. The darkly colored walnut stock measures 13 1/2" from the Miller single trigger to the original buttplate. The 28" barrels have perfect bores and feature two ivory beads. A fine example of the quality of Merkel immediately after the war. The only blemish I can find is the repair shown in the photo where a sling swivel was removed from the stock.
