COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER IN FINE CONDITION WITH ALL MATCHING NUMBERS
Description: Colt cap and ball pistol commonly referred to as the 1849 Pocket Model Revolver, .31 Caliber Percussion. This personal sidearm, in fine, original condition throughout, bears all matching serial numbers of #144199 indicating a production time in 1858. Action works perfectly. Bore is good. Very good grips with 90-95% original varnish. Gunmetal has faded of original bluing. Revolver is mechanically tight with fine crisp action. This Colt handgun features a four-inch long barrel matched to a .31 caliber, five-shot cylinder that retains a faint roll pressed engraving featuring the ‘stagecoach holdup’ scene. All nipples strong and unbroken. Lockup is tight. All serial numbers match, including loading lever, barrel, cylinder, wedge, frame, triggerguard, and buttstrap. A clear and sharp two-line address “ADDRESS SAML COLT / New York City.” on top flat of barrel. The standard “COLTS / PATENT” visible on the left side of the frame. Sub inspector mark “V” on left shoulder of triggerguard, "M" on frame near upper grip. Screws not buggered up. Called the successor to the Baby Dragoon, the Model 1849 Pocket was a small version of the Model 1851 Navy revolver and proved ever popular through its end of production in 1873. This original Colt .31 caliber Pocket Revolver is a great Civil War time specimen of a very popular percussion firearm.
