DWM 1900 SWISS "A" SUFFIX
Description: 30 Luger; 97% blue, 95% straw, excellent bore, good grips, 4.75'' barrel, This is an example of a DWM 1900 E series instructional pistol which was originally assembled and eventually re-numbered by Swiss ordnance, after DWM was unable to supply new pistols because of the outbreak of WW1. This particular pistol was one of 100 in the serial range 5001-5100 which were re-designated for regular issue due to this shortage, with the A suffix added by the Swiss. Original blue finish, strawed small parts and checkered walnut grips. The numbered parts are all matching except the grips, which are both numbered with the last three digits 683 while the gun number is 5083. Complete with a Swiss wood bottom magazine with discs. Stamped on top of the toggle with the DWM logo and on top of the chamber with the Swiss Cross in Sunburst crest. Small Swiss Cross proofs appear on the left side of the barrel and receiver, on the back of the frame and on top of the rear toggle. A halmarked Swiss Cross/V proof is located on the left side of the receiver. A private purchase P stamp is located on the left side short frame rail. Condition: The metal finish shows some very minor sharp edge wear and a few minor handling marks. The grip frame straps show some light thinning and some minor surface spotting. The straw color on the small parts is uniform overall. The grip panels show some handling and small areas of compression to some of the checkering. Mechanically fine and clean internallly with a bright sharp bore. Rig, includes a 1909 dated military proofed holster complete with shoulder strap which is in good intact condition, the original red stitching present.
