Description:
This Remington Rolling Block Cadet Rifle was manufactured using a Remington 1867 pistol action.  Known as the Pistol-framed Cadet Rifle.  It was chambered in .50 Remington Pistol Centerfire.  It was intended for sale to military schools and boys cadet corps.

Markings: legible; navy inspector markings "P/FCW" on right side of frame - left side of frame marked "REMINGTONS ILION NY USA/PAT. MAY 3D NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866" Both barrel bands marked with a “U”.  Underside marked on the wood, “25” and “WC”.

The gun is 41 1/2" long and the barrel to the receiver is 26 3/4".

According to Flayderman’s Guide to Antique American Firearms, only about 1,000 of these cadet rifles were produced around the turn of the 20th century by Hartley & Co. of New York. Their advertising referred to these cadet rifles as “REMINGTON CADET RIFLE NO. 205”

This is a rare rifle.
