Colt 3rd Model Dragoon with Wyoming Freund & Bro Holster
Description: Folks - This original Dragoon and holster has been reduced for sale. If you are not happy with the pics let me know and I'll do my best to send better photos. This Dragoon looks much better in the hand than my pictures. --The Colt Dragoon 1st saw action in the Mexican-American war in 1847. This Colt 3rd Model Dragoon, Serial No. 18609 was mfd in 1859 with an 8" barrel, and quite likely saw action in the early west during the westward expansion & Indian Wars, and fits in the time frame and a location which could have placed it being used in the Civil War. Both the gun and the Wyoming made Freund & Bro holster came to me out of Texas, and both came from the same family. All Matching Numbers-frame, trigger guard, buttstrap, cylinder & barrel, with partial sn's on loading lever & wedge. The gun indexes and locks up correctly. The finish is an honest brown patina. The brass trigger guard and butt strap have been lightly cleaned and sport a nice, original, brass complexion. The barrel address and patent markings are distinctly visible, as is a partial cylinder scene(better in hand than I can capture in pics), and the cylinder possesses the original nipples. Strong rifled bore with only minor pitting. The wood grips retain a portion of the original finish & while the front edges have chips missing, they fit like they grew on the gun, and do not detract from the collectibility of this historical arm, but rather add to its mistique. The Freund & Bro holster is in good condition with a couple of external scuffs, two vertical slits on the front (likely after holster got wet and shrunk-requiring relief) and a few stitches missing on the upper end of the trigger guard area. This early western Dragoon with an early Wyoming made Dragoon Holster is classified as an antique, requiring no FFL/C&R for shipping. Price includes insured shipping. Make sure your State allows shipment of this item before purchasing!
