Description:
SPENCER MODEL Civil War manufactured 1865 REPEATING Saddle Ring CARBINE  serial #15508, 56-52 caliber, 20" barrel with a good three-groove bore showing some scattered patches of moderate pitting but strong rifling throughout. The barrel of this carbine is mostly a pleasant mottled gray patina showing a couple streaks of blue in the protected corners and clear "C.E.W." inspector markings on the left flat. The action is a similar mottled gray with some strong remnants of silvery case-hardened patina and good colors present along the internals of the breechblock. The model marking, patent information and Burnside address along the top are still completely legible and the various parts are stamped with clear sub-inspector markings. The smooth straight grip walnut buttstock and forend remain in about good condition with the left side butt showing a 10" crack, a few smaller cracks along the tangs, handling marks and some remnants of older reapplied finish. There is a very faint remnant of a cartouche on the left side, the saddle ring and toe swivel are intact and the barrel is matching. The Stabler cutoff screw is present but the cutoff itself is missing although the action functions well mechanically. A very good example of these 1865 contract carbines.

This is one of the approx. 23,000 of Model 1865 S.R.Carbines that were manfactured in 1865 and 1866. This Carbine has a "C" inspection stamp ahead of the buttplate tang. The condition is fine with 40% of the original finish, including 50% vibrant case colors remaining underneath patches of surface oxidation. It has legible markings, a small crack near the right tang and crack in the left side of the stock.  The buttstock is fine with the internal cartridge containing mechanism in good working order. Mechanically functional.

Antique, No FFL or C&R license required.  Ships direct to Buyer.

Seller accepts Zell'e, cashiers check, personal check or money order.
Layaway is four equal monthly payments.
