Description:
My cost for a Flambeau Hard Gun Case at the local Dunham's Sporting Goods store is $32.02.  If you want the gun shipped in a hard gun case, you will need to add that to the total.
Shipping and Insurance are extra.

Note:  The gentleman who did the stock work is retired and is no longer working.  Sad to say, he was as good as they get.  No more of his work will be available.  It is a shame.

I went out and bought a digital scale to make sure that I was accurate in the weight of my guns.  According the the scale, the gun weighs 6 pounds, 3.202 oz.

This little Savage Sporter was custom stocked at some point years ago.  On their plain guns, Savage used metal buttplates.  This one has the Savage "SVG" logo on it's hard rubber buttplate.  On any of the deluxe Model 99's, and the ones that were factory engraved, Savage used the hard rubber buttplates as well.  This is not a factory Savage stock.  It is shaped similarly, but noticably different in the comb area, pistol grip, and the Schnabel forearm.  It has a black rubber pistol grip cap.  It is not a factory stocked gun--but I feel it was stocked by someone who procured the Savage butt plate and grip cap and put them on the gun.  The retired stockmaker who worked for G&H and re-did the stock said the same thing--that it was not factory stocked and was custom made.

When I got the gun the stock was badly scratched, and the finish was much worn as well.  My stockmaker told be that after stripping the old finish off, that it was possibly one of the darkest pieces of walnut that he had ever encountered (and he is in his 70's).  I had him refinish the stock completely, and recut the checkering pattern as well.  This semi-retired stockmaker also verified that fact that it was made years ago.

The rear sight is a little bent (see picture).  The bottom metal (trigger guard)has some corrosion--this would not be a hard fix--but have have left the metal exaclty as it was.  The gun has its original clip.  The front blade has gone misplaced--I had to drift it out to put the stock and barrel band back together when the stock came back to me.  The blades are available on ebay, gun shows, etc.

Call or email if you have any questions.

Thank you.
