Colt 1849 Pocket, 4" barrel circa 1852
Description:
SOLD
Colt 1849 pocket, .31 caliber percussion revolver with a 4” barrel. Made in 1852 this matching numbers revolver is a nice, original example of the classic pocket revolver that was carried in the belt of many who participated in the Civil War. Mechanically it is in excellent condition; cosmetically it is antique good to very good. The bore has “strong” rifling and there are just a few light spots of pitting, but very shoot able. The cylinder is clean and the nipples are in good shape. Good original varnish on the grips but out of the bottom, right/front corner there is a noticeable chip missing. The bottom of the grip frame looks as those this revolver was used as a hammer, possibly to tack-up wanted posters!! All in all a pretty nice ’49.
