RARE Antique SPRINGFIELD 1870 TRIALS Rolling Block
Description: RARE Antique SPRINGFIELD 1870 TRIALS Rolling Block In .50-70 GOVT! 1 of only 1,008 Made in 1870! Here we present an antique U.S. ARMY Springfield Model 1870 Rolling Block Rifle, manufactured at the Springfield Armory circa 1870. This rifle is one of only 1,008 rifles manufactured in 1870 for testing by the U.S. military. This was Remington’s design that Springfield Armory built themselves, paying a royalty to Remington. Unlike the Model 1871, it only has "US/SPRINGFIELD/1870" on the right below the eagle and a single stop on the cleaning rod. It has no markings on the left side of the action and is not equipped with the "locking action" that drops the hammer down to half cock when the breech is closed. It features a "barley corn" bayonet stud front sight, notch and folding ladder rear sight, the two-line Remington address and patent marking on the upper tang, and an "ESA" cartouche on the stock wrist on the left. It is also equipped with sling swivels. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a light gray patina. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is in great shape, smooth and solid, though showing signs of use. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic example of a rare US trials rifle made by Springfield Armory! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36 inches. Caliber: .50-70 GOVT Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2875 #8377 SOLD Antique: Yes |
