Reduced!!! From my personal collection. Factory Engraved L.C. Smith/Hunter Arms Crown Grade Double Barrel Shotgun with Factory Letter. Serial Number: RE51315 Manufacturer: Smith L C Model: Crown Grade Gauge: 12 Barrel: 32 inch solid rib Finish: blue/casehardened Grip: Fine. 85% original thinning blue finish remains on the barrels with areas of light spotting small scratches, light dings. The receiver and lock plates have a mostly gray patina with some darker spotting, sharp markings, tool marks on the screws, and handling marks. The ejectors work but are on the weak side but do eject the shells. If you reload it works well for that. The wood is also fine with worn checkering and small dents on the beavertail forearm, refinished buttstock with freshened checkering, and added recoil pad. Mechanically excellent.
Description: The included factory letter confirms the serial number, grade, barrel length, gauge, and December 2, 1922 date of shipment to K.M. Sprocey. The letter further states that only 52 Crown Grade shotguns were manufactured in this configuration, and only 22 total Crown grade guns were manufactured in 1922. Dual bead sights on the matte concave rib, "L.C. SMITH CROWN GRADE" and "MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. FULTON, N.Y." on the right and left barrels respectively, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors, and modified left. Full right chokes. The receiver and lock plates feature full coverage fine floral and scroll engraving with hunting dog scenes on the plates with a pair of pointers on the right, two setters on the left, matching engraving on the tangs and trigger guard, single selective Hunter One trigger, and a gold inlaid crown on the break lever. Fancy checkered beavertail forearm with engraved fittings and straight grip stock with blank initial oval and solid rubber recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .730/.734inch; Right barrel is .035(full). Left barrel is .022(mod). minimum wall thickness .029/.027 inch; drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 1.5 inch; length of pull 14 1/4 inches.
