Description:
This Springfield 03 "Mark 1" and was manufactured in 1919. 65,000 of these Mark 1's were designated such and were to be equipped for the "Pedersen Device".
Reference: "The  Model 1903 Springfield Rifle & It's variations by Joe Poyer (2013).
Obviously only a few hundred were eventually equipped  with this device. It does have the oval cut slot on the left side of the receiver, however & it falls within the correct serial number range of 1,034,502 to 1,197,834. This '03 has an interesting history of Springfield factory upgrades. To begin with the aforementioned "Pedersen Device" machined oval slot, the barrel "1-41'. Toward the end of WWI, Springfield turned out the Model 1903 Mark I. The Mark I has a cut on the left hand side of the receiver meant to act as an ejection port for the Pedersen Device, a modified sear and cutoff to operate the Pedersen Device; a specialized insert that replaced the bolt and allowed the user to fire .30 caliber pistol cartridges semi-automatically from a 40-round detachable magazine.
Rear Sight - Graduated and "270" yards, the scant stock and heavy checkered buttplate. The barrel is marked with a flaming bomb and the date 5-19 with SA  stamped near the front sight.

This is an original Mark 1. It has a original 1919 4 groove barrel and likely original stock.  The stock does have a few service dents and a gouge near the right grip. Arms Room number 0252 on the right stock.Small hairline crack in stock upper grip near receiver.

It has developed a patina on the metal work with bluing remain in various areas. Graduated ladder sight. The action is firm and very smooth. The bore is shiny throughout with no pits or corrosion.  This is an excellent example of an Model 1903 Mark I that saw service period of  WWII and later.
