Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Certified Check Description: Nice example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1, 3rd Issue Pocket Revolver in .22 Short. This has a rare "Kittredge" Dealer Marking which was located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kittredge was a very active Gun Dealer along the Ohio River during the Civil War. He was one of the main distributor's for the .44 Single Shot Wesson Rifle which was a competitor to the New Haven Arms Henry Repeater. Over the years, I've had two Colt 1860 Full Fluted Army Revolvers letter as shipping to Kittridge in April 1861 and seen a number of Smith and Wesson Model 1, 2nd Issues with the Kittredge markings. That said, this is the only Model One, 3rd Issue S&W I've ever seen with the Kittredge marking and it's a little different than the marking from the Civil War which was usually "B. Kittredge Cin. O"...this later marking doesn't have the "B"...it's just "Kittredge Cin. O." Serial number is in the 74,000 range and since the Model 1, 3rd Issue started over at Serial Number 1 upon its introduction in 1868 and finished up at just over 130,000 in 1881, this example was almost certainly made in the early to mid 1870's. The grips are matching to the serial number and the frame, cylinder, and barrel have matching sub-assembly markings. See Photos. Overall Condition Grades to NRA Antique Fine Condition. The original blue remaining breaks down as follows: 80% frame, 30% barrel, 50% thinning on cylinder, and 50% gripstraps. The balance is a smooth brown patina. The Hammer retains 70% original case colors while the ejector rod colors have faded to silver. Original Rosewood Grips are in Fine Condition retaining 90% original varnish. Sharp barrel address and very clean hamer, trigger, and latch knurlings. Screws are good overall with some wear to the barrel hinge screw slot. Action works nicely and barrel to frame is tight. Bore is fair to good with decent rifling. It may improve; I need to clean it. Antique, Pre-1898. All items are sold as antique collectibles only and not warranted to fire. If you plan to fire an antique weapon, we highly recommend you have it inspected by a competent gunsmith and use something like CB Caps instead of smokeless ammunition as this was designed in the 1860's for black powder. No sales to NJ, NYC, DC, or Overseas. $15.00 shipping. This would be a unique addition to an advanced S&W Pocket Revolver Collection.
