Description:
Rare Black Powder Series USFA Colt .44 Percussion 3rd Model Dragoon Revolver in its original box w/paperwork and extra cylinder.  These were the best replicas ever made and were assembled in the original Hartford, Connecticut Colt Factory back in the mid 1990's to early 2000's.  From what I've been able to find out, there were no more than 500 of these made by United States Firearms which included the Colt Walker, Dragoon, 1851 & 1861 Navy, 1860 Army and even pocket Models such as the 1848 Baby Dragoon, 1849, 1862 Police and Navy revolvers.  If there were no more than 500 total which included all of these models, it's doubtful there were many Dragoons made like this one.  To date, the only ones I've seen are the 1851 Navy and 1860 Army which will make a seldom appearance on the market .  You can tell right away this was the product of some really skilled craftsmen who went to great lengths to duplicate the fit, finish, and feel of the original Colt Army Model.  The story on this particular USFA  is that it was sent by the factory to a gun writer for a magazine article along with a USFA 1851 Navy and 1860 Army.  Sorry, I don't know which publication or exactly when this article came out.  All three were test-fired for the article and eventually returned to the factory but the bores were not cleaned resulting in some light pitting.  This one looks to be almost new on the outside but the bore, while fired only once and is still in Good shootable condition, it has some light scattered corrosion from not being cleaned after the article was written.  The frame, hammer, and loading lever have the best case colors I've ever seen on a replica.  The barrel, cylinder, and backstrap are I believe what they call Old Armoury Blue and very similar to Colt's original charcoal/heat blue. The brass gripstraps are silver plated just like many of the original Colt 3rd Model Dragoons.  The silver is beginning to tarnish making it look even closer to a high condition original.  The action is perfect.  Grips have the best wood to metal fit I've seen on a replica...as good or better than the originals.   Comes with an extra USFA cylinder, manual, broadside poster, and in its original black box.  This Colt Dragoon is a piece of art and the best Reproduction of the original made to date.  Given the effort that went into these, the costs to produce these must have been been a pre-cursor to what eventually happened to USFA in producing its Single Action Army.  The costs put them out of business.  This is the only example of the USFA Dragoon I've seen in 25 years.  Antique Percussion.  This can be shipped to most states but it will require an FFL in certain states. Before contacting us, please review your state and local laws as we can only ship this item to where it is legal.  $25.00 shipping.
