Fine+ Civil War dated factory engraved model 1851 Colt Navy .36 caliber revolver with original factory ivory grips. Serial #167461 matching, 1863 manufacture. "I E" stamped next to the serial numbers denoting Ivory Grips and Engraved. Crisp detailed fine+ engraving overall, finish "in the white". Original factory ivory grips are excellent exhibiting only slight shrinkage. The cylinder scene rates excellent with one small area of light surface pitting just above the serial number panel. Mechanics are excellent. Tiggerguard is stamped "36 CAL" & "M". All markings are fine+, New York barrel address. The Colt was examined by a master engraver and was determined that the revolver is executed in what is referred to as late vine scroll. It was also executed by Master engraver Gustave Young. The revolver is all original with wonderful nicely patinaded ivory grips. It is an excellent example.
